Number nine and feeling fine as we roll into the ninth edition of our Brewery of The Month! As always, with every instalment in this series, we aim to shine the spotlight on the breweries and the brewers who work tirelessly to produce all our favourite craft beers. And so, without further ado, it’s time to shine that Craft Beers Delivered spotlight onto Wicklow Wolf! Slainte!

So, Who Are Wicklow Wolf?

Our little island has certainly been putting its stamp on the craft beer movement around the world in recent years. Among them, there’s one name running wild and free - Wicklow Wolf Brewery.

Wicklow Wolf was founded in 2014 in Bray, County Wicklow and was the brainchild of three friends - Simon Lynch, Quincey Fennelly, and Brian Fennelly - who shared a passion for craft beer and a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of County Wicklow.

The name "Wicklow Wolf" was inspired by the wild and rugged nature of the Wicklow Mountains, a range that runs through the county and also the wolf, symbolising the untamed spirit of the region and represents the brewery's commitment to crafting bold and innovative beers.

It didn’t take long at all for Wicklow Wolf to quickly gain recognition for its dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability, and within a short time, they branched out to the large Irish market and also internationally with their core range (aptly named Alpha Pack range). All the while, the brewery has continued its commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. It’s not just the superb quality of their brews, but also their dedication to environmentally responsible practices that has further endeared them to a growing community of beer enthusiasts. As of the time of writing, their range of beers includes their Locavore series (Fresh Hop seasonals), Endangered Species (Limited Editions), and their collab series Crossbreeds, which includes a recent collab with Brennans Bread!

The Unyielding Commitment to Craftsmanship

At the heart of Wicklow Wolf's identity is a fierce pride in being an Irish craft brewery. Each brew they produce takes inspiration from Ireland's rich history, folklore, and natural surroundings. From their flagship beers like Elevation Pale Ale and Arcadia Gluten Free Lager to seasonal delights and experimental brews, each pint tells a story of Ireland's essence.

While rooted in tradition, Wicklow Wolf isn’t afraid to innovate and branch out into different styles and brewing approaches, including IPAs, Saisons, India Pale Lager, sours, and even big stouts! Their team of talented brewers consistently experiments with different styles, ingredients, and brewing methods to create distinct and memorable beers. From IPAs bursting with hops to rich stouts and refreshing sour ales, there is something to excite every palate.

Brewing with a Purpose

Beyond crafting delectable beers, Wicklow Wolf actively seeks to make a positive impact. The brewery is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, implementing eco-friendly practices to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally, they engage in philanthropic initiatives, supporting local charities and community projects. With every pint enjoyed, patrons become part of a meaningful endeavour to give back to society and preserve Ireland’s natural beauty.
