United through a mutual friend, Gipsy Hill founders Charlie Shaw and Sam McMeekin first met over a couple of beers in 2013 to discuss a shared dream – to build a brewery. Pooling together their funds, the pair leased a spot in Gipsy Hill and by September had introduced Beatnik to the world. Just a few years down the line and the pair have built a strong and happy team and community around them. They now run a tap house and a bar, employ over a dozen staff members and host a collection of core, special, cask and barrel-aged beers. Their onus is on producing exciting, innovative brews while maintaining the highest quality standards possible.
