Ireland, a land renowned for its rich history and vibrant culture, has become a thriving hub for craft beer enthusiasts over the past few years. From traditional stout to innovative ales, Irish craft breweries have been making waves both locally and internationally and really putting this little island on the map. And so, we thought we’d take a moment in this blog post to raise our glasses to some of the most iconic Irish craft beer brands and delve into the captivating stories that have led to their remarkable success. Slainte!





1. Rascals Brewing – Brewing with Playful Passion


Founded by Emma Devlin and Cathal O’Donoghue, Rascals Brewing Company is quickly becoming a household name in Dublin and Ireland for their charismatic beers. The story of Rascals Brewing began in 2009 in Wellington, New Zealand. The couple began creating their own brews, and following the success of winning two brewing competitions in 2013, they decided to open their own 950 litre microbrewery. It didn't take long for the awards to start piling up, such as a bronze medal at the Alltech International Beer Convention 2014, their Big Hop Red ale which won the Fan Favorite Award in the Red/Amber/Brown Category at the All-Ireland Irish Craft Beer Festival 2014, and their seasonal lemon saison Kim Jong Lem-Un which was the National Homebrew Club Summer Session Competition Winner. 2. Kinnegar – Where Nature Meets Brewing


Nestled in the scenic countryside of County Donegal, Kinnegar Brewing draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of its surroundings. Founded in 2011, this independent craft brewery prides itself on using traditional brewing methods and locally sourced ingredients to create beers that reflect the unique terroir of Donegal. Kinnegar Brewing's offerings, such as the Rustbucket Rye Ale and the Devil's Backbone Amber Ale, showcase their commitment to crafting flavorful, balanced, and distinctive beers. With a focus on sustainability and a deep appreciation for nature, Kinnegar Brewing has garnered a devoted following and will continue to do so for some time to come!

3. Tom Crean Brewery - For The Adventurous Spirit


Tom Crean Brewery Kenmare is located in an idyllic town in Kerry on the West Coast of Ireland. The Brewery was set up in late 2019 by Aileen Crean O’Brien and Bill Sheppard. Aileen Crean O’Brien, the granddaughter of explorer Tom Crean, brings years of experience in the drinks and hospitality industry while retired London Fire Fighter Bill Sheppard brings a fair share of adventure. The pair both met while travelling in India and have certainly captured that adventurous spirit in every brew they produce! 4. Galway Bay Brewery - Crafting Coastal Delights


Next up in our list and from the iconic West Coast of Ireland comes Galway Bay Brewery! What began as a humble pub in Galway has evolved into a thriving craft brewery with multiple locations across Ireland. Galway Bay Brewery embraces the spirit of adventure, brewing a diverse range of beers that capture the essence of their coastal surroundings. From the refreshing Of Foam and Fury Double IPA to the complex Buried at Sea Coffee Imperial Stout, their creations embody the creativity and passion of the Irish craft beer scene. 5. Whiplash Brewing - A Symphony of Flavors

From their flagship Mac Nutty Irish Red Ale to the refreshing Shaka, Lough Gill's offerings are a testament to their commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
